Historically, fights between water polo players have been very common. In 1897, Harold Reeder of New York formulated the first rules to make the game more civilized. However, even today the intense contact struggle take a place in this game. In Europe and the United States, water polo developed in parallel and went its own ways. The faster and safer European version quickly gained popularity and continues to be played all over the world. Two teams of seven people spend four periods in 8 minutes.
